Fausto Salsano, who worked as Roberto Mancini’s assistant at Galatasaray, believes Cesare Prandelli has made a good decision to move to Turkey.
The former Italy national team boss has this evening been confirmed as Mancini’s successor at the Istanbul giants.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.com, the 51-year-old believes Prandelli is arriving at an ambitious club and denies it is a step down from any job he has previously held.
“I’m happy for him, he’s taking up a fantastic post,” Salsano said. “He is a great Coach and he needs to be coaching a great team, which Galatasaray is.
“Galatasaray are an important and prestigious club, the fans want to win and they have an important history.
“In Turkey there is a serious rivalry, it’s not as easy a League as it might seem. The stadiums are always full, the support is passionate and football is very well followed.
“I would definitely say not [a step down]. Now, for us Coaches, the borders are open and it will be an important experience for him.
“He will fall in love with the city, but he will also find a club that is ambitious and wants to invest.”
