The 28-year-old was a record signing in August 2013 for £15m, but within months had headbutted teammate Jose Fonte in a training ground brawl.
He was also fined £40,000 and suspended for three games due to violent conduct during an incident against Newcastle.
Osvaldo was loaned to Juventus” data-scaytid=”12″>Juventus in January, but scored only one Serie A goal and they decided not to take up their option.
The troubled ex-Roma and Fiorentina striker then failed to report back for pre-season training with Southampton and is on leave while the club tries to find a buyer.
“He was too late,” added Koeman. “The decision of the board was to allow him not to come back. We have to look for opportunities for him to play in a different team.”
Napoli and Inter have been consistently linked with a bid for Osvaldo, but they are only prepared to take him on loan.
Considering the injury to new signing Alvaro Morata, which will rule him out for 50 days, it’s even possible Juventus could bring him back for another loan spell.
He has a long history of controversial incidents, including punching teammate Erik Lamela during a locker room row while at Roma and publicly insulting his then-Roma Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli.
