Bayern Munich director Karl Heinz Rummenigge says ‘a score draw would be a good result’ against Juventus.

The German and Italian champions meet at Juventus Stadium on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

“Unfortunately a great team will have to exit the competition, I said that to my friend Andrea Agnelli at the moment of the draw,” Rummenigge told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“And now, having seen the first matches of this round, we’ve had confirmation that it was the best of the draw.

“Unfortunately a great team will have to exit the competition, I said that to my friend Andrea Agnelli at the moment of the draw,” Rummenigge told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“And now, having seen the first matches of this round, we’ve had confirmation that it was the best of the draw.

“We have a mutual respect and I must say that currently Juve are the only Italian club that has done well with their stadium, with their success on international pitches, including the Champions League final last season: it’s no coincidence that they’re at the top.

“I’m not superstitious. Juve’s run is impressive, they started less strongly, but have now made a comeback and lead the league table. I think that one of the crucial qualities to the recovery was their patience.

“There’s no favourite in this tie. We don’t have fear but only a lot of respect for a very strong team.

“Our dressing room is calm, despite what people think on the outside. Seen from the inside, our group of players is united, they have spirit and friendship.

“The defence must grow for Juve, everyone can improve. A score draw would be a good result for us in the first leg, with Lewandowski and Muller you can expect a goal, we’re well equipped up front.”
