The rules on communicating with the bench are relaxed when the absence is due not to suspension, but force majeure, in this case illness.

The same situation applies to Bologna and their Coach, Mihajlovic, who is undergoing chemotherapy after his leukaemia diagnosis.
The Serbian has been watching training sessions and games via streaming from his hospital bed and given team talks on speaker phone.
That scenario has already been used for weeks now, not to mention he was already their tactician last season.
Sarri and Juve are still getting to know each other and there is more room for potential hiccups.
