Victor Ruiz has revealed what it is like to play your football in Napoli after completing his first six months in Italy.

The Spanish Under-21 international joined the Stadio San Paolo outfit in January and he's stunned at what he has found.

"Napoli is a religion, Diego Maradona is God and Ezequiel Lavezzi is his heir," the 22-year-old told Marca.

"Napoli is a very special city with a crazy atmosphere," continued the stopper who was signed for €6m from Espanyol and the services of Jesus Datolo.

"The biggest impact which I have had is with the fans – it's incredible, I've never seen anything like it.

"For away games there would be 10,000, 15,000 supporters who would follow us from Naples.

"We had a splendid season which allowed us to get into the Champions League."

Ruiz was sparingly used by boss Walter Mazzarri, but there should be more opportunities for the youngster next season with European Cup football on offer.
