Giuseppe Rossi’s agent admits the striker “wants to play” but is not thinking about leaving Fiorentina.

The Italian international missed the whole of last season with the latest in a series of knee injuries, and has been eased back this season by Coach Paulo Sousa, making just four Serie A starts.

“He’s like a dog chasing his tail,” Andrea Pastorello admitted, speaking to FirenzeViola.

“To be a top player he has to get back to full fitness, but to do that he needs to play consistently.

“It’s a thought, nothing more. It’s absolutely not a problem or a controversy, but there’s no doubt that if he doesn’t play it’ll be difficult for him to get back to being the top player he is.

“Obviously there’s respect for the choices of the Coach, we’d never discuss them, especially now given Fiorentina are doing so well.

“Could he leave? No, the destinations I’ve read about aren’t true. Let’s wait and see how he does up until Christmas.

“Like all players he wants to play, he’s suffering from this situation and it’s better if he doesn’t read about what’s being said or written right now.

“He wants to come back and make his contribution for Fiorentina, but to do so he has to find the condition that only playing regularly can give him.”
