The Fiorentina forward has been out of action since sustaining a knee injury in January but that would not put the 43-year-old off selecting him.

“Up until now Prandelli has always chosen with his head,” Chiesa said to Lady Radio.

“I would take Rossi to Brazil even if he were only at 50 per cent. It’s important to see how he recovers.

“It is all the more important because the only alternative to Rossi is Cassano.”

Chiesa was then asked about Saturday’s Serie A match between his former side Fiorentina and Roma.

“They are both teams who like to play football. They play attractive football and they have important players. It will definitely be a great match.

“The Giallorossi have nothing to lose.”
