Delio Rossi has told Palermo to “forget about the table and play for the win against Inter, as we always do.”

The Sicilians have a history of entertaining clashes with the Nerazzurri, losing 5-3 here last season and unlucky to fall 2-1 on home turf in September.

“Every game is unique and self-contained,” insisted the Coach. “Since our last meeting many things have changed and Inter have a different tactician.

“Every game is unique and self-contained,” insisted the Coach. “Since our last meeting many things have changed and Inter have a different tactician.

“We will go to Milan in order to play our game and play for the win, as we always do. If we play the way we know how, then we can get a result against Inter.

“I am not interested in the standings and we must forget about the table. After all, I'm used to not checking it until March.”

Confidence is high after Palermo swept through to the Coppa Italia semi-final, where they'll face Milan.

“Winning the trophy would mean putting some actual silverware in the trophy cabinet as well as qualifying for the Europa League. It is a source of great pride to note we are among Italy's top four clubs along with Milan, Inter and Roma.”

Former Lazio boss Rossi was asked if he would ever accept a future on the bench of their rivals Roma.

“In all honesty, for some time there is a sense of belonging, but I cannot say that I would never take the job. I wouldn't have accepted two months after leaving Lazio, just as I wouldn't take charge of Catania soon after Palermo, but we are professionals.”
