The Italo-American striker's ordeal with his latest knee injury may be nearing an end, as La Viola published a medical video report in which Manetti sounded cautiously optimistic about the player returning to the field.

“Rossi is the most important case and everything is going very well,” said the doctor.

“However, the increase in the workload has to be taken step by step. We'd all like it if he could be doing high-end workloads all the time, but we must respect the biological time-frame of his injury.

“We think he'll be able to return to training with the team in the next two weeks, but I get worried when I read hypotheses about placing him on the bench right away.

“The most important thing is that we don't hurry his recovery. Very soon he'll be back in the group, after which it'll be down to the Coach's judgment to decide when he can play again.”
