Marco Rose insists Borussia Monchengladbach “won’t just sit back and wait for Roma,” even as they approach the Europa League game amid an injury crisis.

It kicks off on Thursday at the Stadio Olimpico at 17.55 UK time (16.55 GMT).

“We have some injury problems, but it’s still a good team and we’ll give our all in this game,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Although we do have some strong defenders, we won’t just sit back and wait for Roma. Our intention is to attack them too.”

Alassane Plea has joined the absentee list with a thigh problem, along with Tobias Sippel, Matthias Ginter, Tobias Strobl, Torben Musel, Fabian Johnson, Keanan Bennetts, Ibrahima Traore and Raffael.

Lars Stindl had been out since April with a fractured leg, but just as he made his return, his trip to Rome was postponed because his wife is about to give birth to their second child.

“I don’t want to talk about private lives of the players, but we hope Stindl will be here with us tomorrow. I am very happy with the way the team is working and believe the results will come.

“Plea is an important player for us, but we have a strong squad with many young players who can make up for his absence.”

Borussia Monchengladbach are currently joint top of the Bundesliga, but have struggled badly in the Europa League with a 4-0 home defeat to Wolfsberg and draw at Istanbul Basaksehir.
