England captain Wayne Rooney says the Azzurri will be 'a good test', but doubts he could 'play in Italy'.

The Manchester United star will be leading the Three Lions in a friendly against the Italians tomorrow evening, hoping to reverse old losses in Euro 2012 and – most recently – the 2014 World Cup.

“We have to move on from the World Cup,” said the striker in today's Press conference.

“We've played really good football since then – our aim is to reach the Euros.

In spite of his respect for the Azzurri, Rooney could not see himself playing in Serie A.

“I love playing in the Premier League. I used to watch [Gabriel] Batistuta for Fiorentina but don't think I'd play in Italy.”

Rooney also had a chance to discuss Harry Kane, who will partner him in an attempt to breach the Italian defence.

“It's exciting for English football that Kane's doing fantastically in Premier League.

“Hopefully that form continues in the England team.”
