The Stadio Olimpico in Rome is officially one of 19 venues challenging to host a Euro 2020 match.

The tournament will be staged all over the continent to mark the 60th anniversary of the European Championships.

Today UEFA formalised the 19 candidates vying to become one of 13 host cities, to be chosen on September 19 in Geneva.

Today UEFA formalised the 19 candidates vying to become one of 13 host cities, to be chosen on September 19 in Geneva.

Plans to revamp the Olimpico before August 2017 were also given a “positive” response.

The city of Rome proposed the Circo Massimo, Piazza di Siena and Piazza del Popolo as Fan Zone venues.

The other candidates for the first three rounds are Baku (Azerbaijan), Minsk (Belarus), Brussels (Belgium), Sofia (Bulgaria), Copenhagen (Denmark), Skopje (Macedonia), Munich (Germany), London (England), Budapest (Hungary), Jerusalem (Israel), Amsterdam (Holland), Dublin (Republic of Ireland), Bucharest (Romania), St Petersburg (Russia), Glasgow (Scotland), Bilbao (Spain), Stockholm (Sweden) and Cardiff (Wales).

London and Munich are also candidates to host the semi-finals and Final.
