Stefano Pioli says Alessio Romagnoli will ‘almost certainly’ miss Milan’s remaining three fixtures this season.
Romagnoli was instantly taken off after he made an awkward landing during the 2-1 win at Sassuolo, and Pioli admits he is not expecting his captain to return any time soon.
“Romagnoli picked up a muscle problem, which will almost certainly rule him out of all our remaining matches,” the coach told Milan TV after the game.

“I’m very sorry about this news because we were playing well and Alessio had played every minute of the season with quality.”
Right-back Andrea Conti was also hauled off at Mapei Stadium, coming off even earlier than his fellow defender.
“Conti picked up a knee problem, which will be assessed in the next few hours.”
