Roma boss Aurelio Andreazzoli insists his outfit will respect Palermo on Saturday despite the latter’s struggles.

The Rosanero are in serious trouble at the foot of the table given that they have won just three times in Serie A this term.

“If you look at the table then you’d say we’re better than the Rosanero,” the man who replaced Zdenek Zeman in February stated.

“But since I’m old, I know that it is not always easy to play against the side at the bottom of the standings.

“Given how my players have conducted themselves this week, I don’t think there’s any danger of us underestimating the opposition.

“We need to approach Palermo as if they were top of the table.”

Andreazzoli’s preparations for the tie have been hampered by the international break.

“It's tough during the international break,” he added. “But all teams have internationals and it is the same for everyone.

“We haven’t had the entire squad available, so that’s just broken up our rhythm slightly.

“As I've said though, it's the same for everyone and we need to get on with it. Either way I’m very happy with the work we’ve put in this week.”

The tactician was also happy to see Daniele De Rossi in action for Italy against Brazil last week.

“His performance for the national team confirmed what I'd already realised, both in terms of his fitness and the quality of his display.

“He's always been excellent from a tactical perspective.

“Last week he played alongside Andrea Pirlo and then on his own in a three-man midfield, performing very well.

“I think he's been overly criticised and he's playing very well.”
