Roma have announced a special friendly game against Real Madrid at the Stadio Olimpico on August 11.

It is the inaugural edition of the Mabel Green Cup and will be staged in the Italian Capital.

“Organised by Mabel Sports, the aim of the exhibition match is to raise awareness and promote interest in sustainability, and the protection and longevity of the planet,” read a statement.

“As part of the event, proceeds will go towards causes that focus on this cause – the protection of the planet.

“The game will get underway at 20:00 local time.”

It’ll be the debut at the Olimpico for new Roma Coach Paulo Fonseca and their fourth official friendly of pre-season after Perugia, Lille and Athletic Bilbao.

“It is an honour to have the confidence of the best club in the world, Real Madrid, to be a pioneer once again through this type of action and it is also an enormous privilege that a legendary club like AS Roma has accepted to participate in this first edition,” said Manuel Campos Guallar, co-owner and chief executive of Mabel Capital.

“We hope that people can enjoy a wonderful spectacle at the same time that we become more aware of the protection of our planet."
