Roma's first choice is former Barcelona B team boss Luis Enrique, but he is still considering whether to accept their offer or not.

Concerned that the Spaniard may reject a move to the Stadio Olimpico, Sabatini is drawing up alternative plans.

Having seen previous target Stefano Pioli join Palermo and Marseille confirm Didier Deschamps, Sabatini has held talks with Giampaolo.

Although the 43-year-old has been announced by Cesena, it is believed that he has yet to actually put pen to paper.

Giampaolo was expected to be unveiled to the media by Cesena on Wednesday.
