Roma’s Kevin Strootman is set for evaluation on a knee injury sustained yesterday evening, but initial diagnosis is it is only bruising.

Whilst on international duty with the Netherlands during their friendly with France, the midfielder was forced to retire towards the end of the first half, visibly struggling with his knee.

The 24-year-old, who picked up the complaint in a clash with Les Bleus’ Mathieu Valbuena, is now set for tests at Trigoria upon his return to the Italian capital, to ascertain the extent of any damage.

However, the Corriere dello Sport lead today’s reports that the midfielder was substituted more as a precaution and that the injury looks to be only a bruised knee.

The Giallorossi face Napoli on Sunday evening and Strootman has so far only missed one League game this term for them.
