Andrea Belotti has been forced to the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his right hand, Roma have confirmed.

The 29-year-old Giallorossi striker has struggled for consistent minutes since joining the club on a free transfer last summer, making just three Serie A starts and seeing only 533 minutes of action in the league.

Belotti has looked a little more dangerous when given the chance in the Europa League, scoring three goals across five starts in the competition.

As announced by Roma, Belotti has undergone osteosynthesis surgery today following a fracture of the third and fourth metacarpals of his right hand.

Carried out by Professor Matteo Guzzini at the Madonna della Fiducia clinic in Rome, everything went well and the player has now started his recovery.

It’s currently unclear how long Belotti will be forced to the sidelines but is likely to miss Roma’s upcoming match with Sassuolo, scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
