Coach Luciano Spalletti will likely debut Roma with a 4-3-3, but is considering a 3-5-2 as well.

The Tuscan tactician faces a delicate first game today at 14:00 UK time, as nothing less than a win is expected against bottom-of-the-table club Hellas Verona, who are playing without their star striker Luca Toni.

While almost all sources suggest he will stick with an orthodox 4-3-3, asking Edin Dzeko to stay up high as a real poacher rather than track back as a false nine, there are rumours that he could try a three-man defence.

La Repubblica's predicted formation for the Giallorossi is a 3-5-2 with Antonio Rudiger, Kostas Manolas and Leandro Castan manning the defence.

In this iteration, Roma would field Dzeko and Mohamed Salah as the two strikers, supported by Alessandro Florenzi on the right flank and Lucas Digne on the left. The three men in central midfield would be variable, but in all likelihood Daniele De Rossi, Miralem Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan will take to the pitch.
