Berardi has just one goal and two assists in his 12 Serie A appearances this season, so his value has fallen significantly since the summer.

Now the Lupi believe they could get him for around €30m, although Sassuolo wouldn’t let the 23-year-old leave in January.

Instead Monchi is looking to set up the deal now, before finishing it off in the spring and taking Berardi to Rome in the summer.

Roma could face competition from Napoli though, who have also been linked with Berardi.
