Matias Viña has not joined Roma’s training camp in Portugal after the transfer from Palmeiras, as he needs to quarantine first, then train on his own.

The Uruguay international flew in yesterday for his medical tests and to sign the paperwork in a deal worth €11m plus another €2.5m in bonuses.

The transfer paperwork has not yet been completed.

He was not included in the group that flew out to Portugal today for their pre-season training camp with Jose Mourinho.

That is because due to COVID restrictions and travel regulations, he must quarantine first in Italy for a few days.

According to the latest reports, Roma have been given permission to place Viña in a ‘bubble’.

This means he can travel between the hotel and the Trigoria training ground, where he will be training alone, maintaining social distancing.

Once he has concluded the session, he must return to the hotel and not go anywhere else.
