Roma are working to fine Rick Karsdorp for his absence in training and failure to join the squad for their mid-season retreat to Japan.
Il Tempo details how the 27-year-old Dutch full back did not show up at Trigoria for the resumption of training in late November and did not join his teammates for their training retreat in Japan. Whilst the club had agreed to reinstate Karsdorp into Jose Mourinho’s squad after their public falling out, they do not intend to forgive his absences.
Roma have started the process to fine Karsdorp, looking to pick up an amount higher than the 5% of a gross monthly salary, set as a maximum limit by the rules for fines. The Board of Arbitration will then pass judgement, with an ‘arbitrator’ appointed by each of the two parties and an independent president. The case could also go to the Court of Appeals.
Karsdorp has justified his absence from training with health reasons, discussing emotional stress following an assault carried out by a group of Roma ultras at his house in Casal Palocco after the 1-1 draw with Sassuolo on November 9.

Lawyer Salvatore Civale, who is working with Karsdorp’s agent, expressed his anger at the club in an interview yesterday.
