Roma have reportedly approached Udinese to discuss a deal for young goalkeeper Alex Meret.

The 21-year-old was key in keeping Spal in Serie A this season, making a number of decisive saves in the second half of the season.

He was on loan from the Zebrette, and Sky Italia is now reporting that the Giallorossi have made enquiries about him.

So far the approach is considered very tenatitive, but sporting director Monchi sees him as an important investment for the future.

Meret would also be a safeguard, as current number one Alisson is expected to receive several offers this summer.

Roma have made it clear they don’t want to sell, but the Brazilian has been heavily linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid.

In addition, Sky reports, Chelsea have broken off contract talks with Thibaut Courtois, and may need to replace the Belgian this summer.
