New Roma Coach Claudio Ranieri has an injury crisis on his hands, as Kostas Manolas, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Daniele De Rossi are expected to be out for three weeks.

The tactician was appointed on Friday after the dismissal of Eusebio Di Francesco, as defeat in the derby with Lazio and a Champions League exit to Porto proved a deadly double blow.

Ranieri immediately has problems to deal with, as tests showed De Rossi, Pellegrini and Manolas all have varying degrees of muscular lesions.

They are widely believed to be out for around three weeks, so are in a race to be fit in time for the Serie A showdown with Napoli in April.

Patrik Schick was given the all-clear, while Cengiz Under continues to train separately following his hamstring issue.

It is a particularly big problem for Monday night’s Serie A game against Empoli, because Roma also miss suspended Edin Dzeko, Aleksandar Kolarov and Federico Fazio.
