The defender was signed on loan with an option to buy from Wolfsburg over the summer, but has disappointed so far this season and had particular problems in last night’s 4-2 defeat to Cagliari.
“Kjaer has been a little bit unlucky,” director of sport Sabatini told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He is a player who will require an important economic sacrifice in order to buy out his contract. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see.”
The Danish international already has Serie A experience with Palermo.
