Roma are on the verge of giving up for Edin Dzeko due to Manchester City’s demands, turning to Zenit striker Jose Salomon Rondon.

Director of sport Walter Sabatini flew out to Manchester on Sunday night, safe in the knowledge the Bosnia international wants the transfer.

However, the offer of €15m to €18m is too far off Manchester City’s asking price of €28m, though Sky Sport Italia claim it’s closer to €35m including bonuses.

With the figures at that level, the Giallorossi are forced to look elsewhere for their new centre-forward.

It’s rumoured that the next name on the list is Zenit forward Rondon, who would be available for €20m.

The Venezuela international is four years younger than Dzeko and only joined Zenit in January 2014 from Rubin Kazan.

He has a strong record of scoring in Europe, netting four times in 12 Champions League games and 15 goals in 26 Europa League fixtures.
