Roma CEO Italo Zanzi assured “UEFA appreciate our work” and the FFP limitations won’t be a problem.

The club failed to meet Financial Fair Play parameters and was fined €2m – plus a further €4m if their accounts are not put in order – with their squad limited to 22 players for European competition.

“It is an important issue, but must not cause panic or worry among our fans,” Zanzi told Roma Radio.

“It is an important issue, but must not cause panic or worry among our fans,” Zanzi told Roma Radio.

“We sorted things out and everyone should relax. We controlled the situation well and are confident going forward.

“It was a constructive dialogue over almost five months to let UEFA understand where we started from, improving on economic and sporting levels. UEFA appreciate our work.

“There is a long-term plan and everything we do is based around that, which UEFA clearly saw. They were clear on the fact this system is meant to help clubs and not punish them, so they were open to our situation.

“They appreciated our ambition for victory, but while being fiscally responsible. It was a very constructive dialogue.

“Now we know the parameters we have to work in and are confident of planning the future the way we did before this sanction.

“There should not be concern among the fans that this will make success less likely than previously predicted.”
