Roma have made it clear that they have no plans to cash in on Daniele De Rossi during the January transfer window.

The Italian international is being linked with a New Year switch given his problems with boss Zdenek Zeman.

The latter refuses to use the player as his central midfielder in his 4-3-3 and has even opted to bench him in recent times.

“We have no intention of selling him,” President James Pallotta stated on Tuesday afternoon. “We’re not in touch with any other clubs and we have not received any offers. It’s all speculation.”

Director general Franco Baldini confirmed the words of the club’s American chief.

“The President enjoyed himself this morning by reading about how many clubs we had sold De Rossi to,” Baldini noted. “As I’ve always said, there is no intention of selling him.”

The pair were speaking at a Press conference which confirmed that Italo Zanzi had been appointed as the club’s new CEO.

“The principle objective is to create a good side from now for the next 10 years and one of the biggest brands in the world,” Pallotta added.

“This year’s target is to qualify for the Champions League and we’ll be disappointed if that doesn’t happen.”

Pallotta also confirmed that a new stadium was on the agenda. “The first step is to find a location. We’re working to have a new arena within the next five years.”
