Jose Mourinho’s Roma showed positive signs in their closed-door friendly with Viterbese, picking up a 3-1 win.
The Giallorossi’s first game of 2023 is against Bologna on January 4 and Mourinho is desperate to be fully prepared for the second half of the season. Roma have been inconsistent this campaign and currently sit 7th in the Serie A table, three points behind 4th place Lazio. The fight for a top four finish looks to be tight and the early stages of the year could prove decisive in the race.
Roma faced Viterbese in a friendly at their training ground in Trigoria today. They started the match well and ended the first half 2-0 up thanks to goals from Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Zaniolo, two important players in Mourinho’s squad.
Tammy Abraham found the back of the net in the second half, making it 3-0, before Emilio Volpicelli clawed one back for the Serie C side.
