Roma have been thoroughly impressed by the shining start of Daniele De Rossi and are planning out a new long-term contract for the former midfielder.

The 40-year-old Italian coach picked up his sixth league win in seven on the weekend, when his Giallorossi side cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win over a plucky Monza, a result that puts them fifth in the Serie A table, just four points behind Bologna.

When De Rossi took over from Mourinho back in January, he did not fuss regarding the terms of his deal, penning a six-month contract worth around €500,000. With just over three months left on his deal, Roma are starting to plan ahead.

Calciomercato.com details how Roma owners the Friedkins have been incredibly impressed by the work of De Rossi over the last six weeks, both his ability to instantly pick up results and his strong relationship with the squad.

Rumours suggest the club are planning to offer the 2006 World Cup winner a new two-year contract with a significant salary bump, but for now no definitive moves have been made yet. That is expected to change in the coming weeks, however, especially considering his relationship with the owners.
