Roma have admitted that Catania boss Vincenzo Montella is on their shortlist of candidates to replace Luis Enrique.

The Spaniard quit the capital club on Sunday just a season after taking over from Montella at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Montella is a tactician who we are thinking about,” sporting director Walter Sabatini noted.

“He’s a Coach who did well with us last season and also with Catania this, but he has a contract with them.

“We’ll ask for permission to speak with him, but he is only one of the contenders we have.”

Montella, who replaced Claudio Ranieri for a short time in Rome during the 2010-11 campaign, is tied to the Elefanti until June 2013.

He admitted last night that he is tempted by a return to Roma.
