Ricardo Rodriguez insists he “always followed Milan”, as he prepares to officially join from Wolfsburg.

The Swiss defender arrived in Italy last night to sign for the Rossoneri, and he took the first part of his medical at the Madonnina clinic this morning.

“I’ve always followed Milan, since a long time ago,” Rodriguez told Sky outside the facility.

“When I was little I watched all the matches. This is a great team, and together we want to return to the top.

“Idols? I didn't have any, I liked all of the Rossoneri team and I watched the matches because I considered them to be a great team.”

Rodriguez also spoke to MilanNews as he left the clinic.

"I'm at a very big team and we want to get back to the top. The number 3 isn't my favourite number, I prefer 13 or 33 but I'm not thinking about it now.

"I can't wait to get started as soon as possible and I think this is an important team which can get even better."
