Franck Ribery is reportedly close to joining Salernitana on a free transfer.

The Frenchman spent two seasons at Fiorentina, but his contract expired this past June, so the former Bayern Munich star is now available as a free agent.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Granata are close to reaching an agreement with the 38-year-old.

The newly-promoted Serie A side reportedly offered Ribery a one-year deal worth €1.5m plus bonuses.

Hellas Verona had also made a contract offer to Ribery, but the Frenchman seems willing to join Fabrizio Castori’s side.

Salernitana began their Serie A campaign with back to back defeats against Bologna and Roma. They face Torino away on September 12 after the international break.

Ribery joined Fiorentina on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in 2019 and scored five goals in 50 appearances with La Viola. He is now available as a free agent, so he can join a new club even if the summer transfer window closed on August 31.
