Gareth Bale is leaving Real Madrid as a free agent and could reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma, claim reports in Spain.

The Wales international is out of contract after nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu and will turn 33 next month.

He wants regular playing time ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which for the first time in over 60 years will have Wales as participants thanks to their play-off win over Ukraine.

Bale has been linked with a return to the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur, now under the guidance of Antonio Conte, while Getafe were also mentioned in Spain.

According to El Nacional in Spain, Mourinho has personally contacted Bale to ask if he’d be interested in a new experience at Roma.

They worked together at Tottenham during a loan spell in the 2020-21 season, Bale scoring 10 goals in 27 competitive matches for the Special One.

It’s not the first time that he has been tempted by Serie A, as Inter tried to sign him many years ago.

The Giallorossi are bolstering their squad with free agents and Nemanja Matic is expected for his medical at the start of next week after leaving Manchester United.

It will perhaps be useful for Bale to know there are 10 major golf courses in the area in and around Rome.

  1. All indications are that Bale’s only remaining motivation in football is representing wales at the WC. I can see the rumours of going to cardiff coming to fruition. It would allow him to keep in shape for the WC, but also be under less scrutiny to perform week in week out.

  2. LOL….Good one, FI. Like his Juve Welsh counterpart, this leech has no intention of playing domestic football. His ONLY focus is the national team and he will happily drain the resources of any club foolish enough to cover his astronomical wages.

  3. Seeing Bale in Serie A is exciting, even if I am an Interista and he has always performed well against us for Tottenham
