According to reports in Italy, coach Massimiliano Allegri is approaching the end of his Juventus reign as the club are not currently prepared to offer him an extension to his current contract.

Allegri signed a four-year deal with Juventus upon his return in 2021, and so is currently contracted until the summer of 2025.

However, according to an exclusive from Calciomercato.it, John Elkann, CEO of Exor (the holding company that owns Juventus, controlled by the Agnelli family) is keen to cut ties with the past and move forwards in a new direction.

One of the main consequences of the new Juventus venture would be the departure of Allegri as head coach, according to Calciomercato.it’s report.

Tuesday’s report suggests that Allegri will not be offered a new contract and that he could be moved on from Juventus as early as the end of the 2023-24 season.

Calciomercato.it note that the appointment of Cristiano Giuntoli as sporting director last summer was the first major step in moving forwards with a new-look Juventus. Giuntoli will presumably be heavily involved in the new Juventus revolution.

As Juventus are suggested to be moving on from the past, Calciomercato.it believe that there is unlikely to be a return to the Bianconeri dugout for former coach Antonio Conte.

Instead, Juve will reportedly look to more recently established coaches, such as Bologna’s Thiago Motta.
