He may not be a free agent, but it's still likely Cassano will be sold in January and Milan are thought to already have a deal.
According to several reports in Italy this evening, a meeting between Vice-President Galliani and agent Beppe Bozzo sealed the agreement over dinner.
It is claimed the deal will see Milan pay the €5m owed to his former club Real Madrid as part of a definitive transfer.
It'll also extend his contract from the current 2013 expiry to June 2014. Before the move can be completed, the Rossoneri will find a new destination for benchwarmer Ronaldinho.
“I would not advise people to bet only on Cassano, as there are many very important players who could move in January, including overseas and across the English Channel,” commented Galliani.
“We are looking for a technically gifted player and Cassano fits that bill, but he is not the only one.
“Let us leave Cassano alone. He is a Samp player, while Ronaldinho is part of the Milan squad and will stay here.”
