The Croatian sporting director Boban was sacked by Milan after publicly criticising CEO Ivan Gazidis for contacting Red Bull director Ralf Rangnick behind his and Maldini's back.

Ralf Rangnick has been reported as a target to fill a manager role, including the coaching responsibility at San Siro, but the German's agent has denied that they are in agreement about a deal.

The Gazzetta dello Sport writes that CEO Gazidis has taken over his responsibility at the Rossoneri and will continue to work on an agenda full of commitments, starting with the future of Maldini.

The two are in contact but have allegedly yet to meet and the report points out that the former captain seems certain to leave after the current year.
