Monday’s Serie A match between Lazio and Inter will reportedly go ahead after all, despite pleas from Roman officials to limit travel in the capital.

It had initially been feared that the bad weather in Rome would result in the game being called off, but Radiosei claims the two sides have been given the all-clear to play.

Furthermore, Lazio spokesperson Stefano De Martino told Lazio Style Radio: “There’s been no news to suggest the game will be postponed and there have been no further announcements.

“As it stands, the game will be played. We won’t wait for any other meetings or announcements. There won’t be any.

“Unless there are any other announcements, it’s a good idea to confirm that the game will be played.

“It’s good to clarify that it’s not the club who decide whether we play or not. That’s all we can do.

“Right now, I’m talking to you under the impression that the game will go ahead as planned.”

There have been thunderstorms all over Italy, but it has been particularly bad in Rome, which has had to contend with hailstorms, heavy rain and flooding.

The weather alert in the Italian capital was also upgraded to ‘red’ on Monday, with all schools closed in the area.
