Fiorentina reportedly want Sassuolo boss Roberto De Zerbi to become their next coach.

Fiorentina were forced to make a change at the helm earlier this season, when Vincenzo Montella made way for Beppe Iachini.

However, Calciomercato.com writes Iachini is no more than a stop-gap and that today saw the Viola open talks with De Zerbi’s representatives.

The website explains he has been identified as ‘the right man’ by owner Rocco Commisso and Vice-President Joe Barone for his attacking approach and propensity to play young players.

The 40-year-old is also free to leave Sassuolo this summer, with his contract expiring on June 30 in the absence of a renewal.

De Zerbi has won 21 of his 68 matches in charge of the Neroverdi, drawing as many and losing 26 since arriving from Benevento in the summer of 2018.
