However, Mundo Deportivo immediately hit back with assurances Barcelona had denied the deal.

This report comes hot on the heels of another claim this morning that Javier Mascherano would be joining Juventus, quickly denied by Barcelona.

Sky Sport Italia and their usually very reliable pundit Gianluca Di Marzio maintain Juventus interest in Dani Alves and Mascherano is very real and negotiations are on-going.

In their view, the deal with Dani Alves is for two years with the option for a third, while he would be able to free himself via a clause in the Barcelona contract.

Spanish reports note the clause is only valid before June 5, which is why Juve are acting quickly.
