Inter’s Florida Cup friendly with Arsenal could be scrapped after reports the Gunners have several COVID-19 cases within the club.

There had already been suggestions in the Italian media, which were denied by Inter and the organisers of the tournament in Orlando, that the Nerazzurri were ready to pull out.

This was because they were concerned at the growing pandemic numbers in America and wanted to restrict travel to a minimum.

However, now the game could be scrapped anyway, as The Athletic claim this evening that Arsenal have several positive tests within the first team and youth team.

Arsenal were set to play Inter in the pre-season Florida Cup on July 25, then either Everton or Millionarios on July 28.

It’s also an alarm for the Premier League club, as their season begins against Brentford on August 13.

Italian teams are all urged to vaccinate their players and staff going into the new season, but there have been COVID cases here too.

Spezia had at least 10 cases, which the club medic blamed publicly on two players who considered themselves ‘anti-vaxxers’ and refused the vaccine.
