Italia Viva leader Matteo Renzi hits out at the Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora and claims he can’t decide to stop football on his own: “We are a democracy.”

Spadafora sparked confusion with his comments last night, as he pointed out that ‘team training will not resume before May 18 and resuming the season is something that hasn’t really been talked about’.

Renzi confronted the Minister of Sport in a comment on Facebook, claiming that he can’t make those decisions without talking about it in Parliament.

“The championship is not the priority, of course, but it’s an important choice,” Renzi wrote on Facebook. “The Minister of Sport says that ‘it’s not talked about’.

“Who decides? Himself, in the mirror? In a democracy, we talk about everything. And above all, we talk about the choices that will affect many citizens.

“The Minister comes to the Parliament, he can’t decide for himself. We are a democracy.”
