Edy Reja could have Miroslav Klose back against Atalanta, but insists Lazio “would certainly be on 61-62 points” without their many injuries.

The Biancocelesti have struggled with numerous physical problems throughout the campaign and hope to have Klose in the starting XI for the first time since his thigh strain over two months ago.

“We will decide together whether he will start the match or come off the bench. If he gives me guarantees, then I’d prefer him to play even if he 60 or 70 per cent fit,” said the Coach.

“We are not going through a particularly good period of form, especially when it comes to bad luck. There are two games to go and we will do our utmost to finish as high up the table as possible.

“It has been a positive campaign for us, in any case. The second half of the season was cursed when it came to injuries and we missed Klose terribly. With fewer injuries, we’d have certainly been on 61-62 points.

“It is one of the best seasons I’ve ever seen, as nobody is giving in and everything will be decided at the last minute. Everyone is going through difficulties, just look at Lecce holding Juventus.

“This is a dangerous away match for us and we all know how well Atalanta are doing. Stefano Colantuono and the club have done great work, as without the six-point penalty they’d be fighting for a place in Europe.”
