Edy Reja prepares Lazio for the Coppa Italia quarter-final with Milan, but warns Djibril Cissè “is not focused” due to his goal drought.

“I will field the best possible Lazio line-up in Milan,” assured the Coach. “Every competition is important and we must always push for 100 per cent. If the players who started on Sunday are in good shape, then they will start tomorrow.

“We’ve got to aim to win every single game, even in the Coppa Italia, where we tend to have a good tradition.”

It is a swift return to San Siro, where the Biancocelesti were beaten 2-1 at the weekend.

“I cannot complain about our performance, as the Nerazzurri didn’t get near the ball before they scored. Then there were the incidents we all know about with the referee. If we keep playing like that, then the results will come your way eventually.

“Maybe we are still not mentally ready to win the head-to-head games. We’ll see in the second half of the season if we can improve on that.”

Cissè has more experience than most of the Lazio squad, but has not scored since September in a 2-2 draw here with Milan.

“I am a bit upset for him, as I’d like Cissè to find his form. He is in any case convinced he can still give an important contribution. I hope he breaks his drought as soon as possible, because he is not focused due to the pressure of feeling he has to score.”

Lazio have brought in Emiliano Alfaro over the January transfer window and are not finished yet with negotiations for CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda.

“The club knows what my requests are. I never name names, but I am interested only in players with certain characteristics.”
