Edy Reja celebrates Lazio’s victory over Milan, but admits there was a row with director Igli Tare over the failed transfer policy.

The Biancocelesti beat Milan 2-0 at the Olimpico despite an injury crisis that also ruled out Miroslav Klose, so Tommaso Rocchi was the only available striker.

“We had to close down the spaces and stop Milan’s midfielders from pushing forward,” said the Coach.

“We played a good game and didn’t allow much at the back. I am very satisfied with the lads, who showed great determination in an emergency situation. Senad Lulic and Alejandro Gonzalez gave so much in attack and defence.

“We wanted to win this game and stepped on to the pitch for the second half with real determination. This squad has character and a positive mentality.”

However, reports have been swirling around about an alleged blazing row between Reja and director of sport Tare, as they sold Djibril Cissè to QPR, Giuseppe Sculli to Genoa and failed to bring in target Keisuke Honda.

“We sold many players in attack and now are a little limited there. Unfortunately, we were unable to bring in the targets we had wanted, so of course there was a little bitterness at the close of the transfer window.

“If the lads play like this, then we can still aim for the top spots, especially as Inter and Napoli are having problems.”
