Reports are gathering pace in Spain that Barcelona are seriously considering a summer swoop for Napoli’s Pepe Reina.

The latter is only on loan with the Italian club from Liverpool and he was watched by Barca technical secretary Albert Valentin in the Champions League win at Marseille last week.

Although Mundo Deportivo state that Barca are closing in on Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, they could also net Reina as well to provide competition for the 21-year-old.

The Spanish giants are in need of a new shot-stopper given that Victor Valdes will leave the Camp Nou when his contract expires in the summer.

There are also doubts about the future of reserve ‘keeper Jose Manuel Pinto.

Barca Coach Tata Martino will apparently have the final say over which ‘keeper he wants signed – whether it be one or both.

Reina has played in all 12 of Napoli’s competitive games so far this season. He was brought in after Morgan De Sanctis joined Roma.
