“Even the VAR referee made several mistakes, the clearest ones are the red card shown to Bentancur and the last penalty kick,” wrote La Gazzetta dello Sport that rated the referee 4/10.
“He only got one thing right, Marcelo Brozovic’s red card. Too little for a Juventus-Inter.”
La Repubblica added that Calvarese should have judged correctly “at least two of the three incidents reviewed by VAR,” and rated the match official 4.5/10, while Calvarese received a 3/10 rating from La Stampa.
