Massimo Rastelli says the most important thing was to win after Cagliari beat Crotone by a single goal.

Marco Sau scored the only goal as the Sardegna Arena opened with the Rossoblu securing an important victory against possible relegation rivals.

“Today what mattered was to win,” Rastelli told reporters following the conclusion of the match.

“It was the first match at the Sardegna Arena and we were facing a team with the same targets as us.

“We had a great first half, we managed in the second half. I would have wanted to finish it off earlier, but we didn’t give anything away.”

Rastelli was impressed by the performance of new forward Leonardo Pavoletti, who arrived to replace Marco Borriello.

“Borriello is in the past, we will enjoy Pavoletti who I don’t think we will regret bringing in.

“It wasn’t an easy match, they finished it well.”
