“Our safety passes through Pescara,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Both sides were promoted over the summer, but the Sardinians have done considerably better so far this season.

“We do have a good cushion in the table, but we cannot take that for granted. We’re going to Pescara aiming for a victory and not trying to hedge our bets for a draw.

“We cannot afford to think about a stalemate, because it would be damaging and counter-productive. Pescara can hurt anyone and we must give our all to get the three points."

Cagliari were knocked out of the Coppa Italia this week after a 3-0 defeat at Sampdoria.

“We need to read the game better and in that sense we are improving. It’s a shame some criticised our choices in the Coppa Italia midweek, but they were forced due to injuries and fatigue.”

Cagliari will wear a green jersey on Sunday to commemorate Chapecoense following the plane crash in Colombia.

Marco Capuano, Luca Bittante, Nicola Murru, Joao Pedro and Artur Ionita are unavailable.

Cagliari squad for Pescara: Colombo, Rafael, Storari; Briukhov, Bruno Alves, Capuano, Ceppitelli, Isla, Pisacane, Salamon; Barella, Dessena, Di Gennaro, Munari, Padoin, Tachtsidis; Borriello, Farias, Giannetti, Melchiorri, Sau
