Giacomo Raspadori started for Sassuolo in their Coppa Italia clash against Modena this evening as Napoli continue to work on a deal.

The Partenopei are desperately trying to secure the 22-year-old Italian forward’s signature before their Serie A campaign kicks off against Hellas Verona next week. Napoli’s first offer for Raspadori was around €30m, which was quickly turned down by Sassuolo as they hold out for €40m.

Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi has decided to start Raspadori in tonight’s Coppa Italia first round clash against Modena, deploying him in the centre of a front three. The two clubs will continue their negotiations after the match and Napoli are pushing to try and get a deal across the line.

Last season, the 22-year-old Raspadori scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo, impressing enough to become a regular feature of Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri squad. He was also part of the team that won Euro 2020.
